Workflows - Time-based Trigger

What is a Time-based Trigger?

A trigger that is activated when an amount of time is specified before or after a lifecycle event (such as registration, trial end, renewal, ect...) or license status change (such a free, paying, canceled, ect..). Click to find out more about event, manual, and smart triggers. 

1. Name your workflow

We recommend a descriptive name that includes information about the trigger + the user segment. In this example, we will create a time based trigger specifically for customers on the Pro Plan with an annual contract, "QBR #1 - Annual Pro Plan." (Quarterly Business Review abbreviated to QBR).

2. Select a user segment 

We created a custom filter in order to segment out users on the Pro Plan with an annual contract. We did that with our custom filtering feature. Learn more about that here.  

3. Choose # of days & when

Specify how many days before or after a lifecycle event or license status change you would want the workflow to be triggered. Please note, you can not select before if you choose license status change. For this example, we will select 120 days (3 months) and after. 

4. Choose a lifecycle event or license status change

In this example, we will select when license status changes to paying.


5. Select which license status

All your license status's will appear in the drop down. For this example we will select when the customer converted to a paying customer from trial or free customer. (Trial can be a lifecycle event and/or a license status).  


6. Add Action Items

Finish this workflow by creating action items such as tasks, email, and alerts. Click here to learn about the different action items.
